Contributed to the game of soccer as a player and coach, played for Cumberland Utd, Royal Australian Navy, Ascot Park, Prospect, Enfield and Birkalla Rovers

Represented South Australia as a player and was the States Leading Goal Scorer in 1943, 1944 and 1953 also holds the record for the most number of goals (40) scored in a season for the 1st Div / Premier League

Played for Adelaide City in its inaugural year in the NSL 1977 and continued playing until after the 1994/95 season, held the club record for the most number of games (445), an NSL record at the time, and scored 64 goals was Australian Player of the Year in 1984 and represented South Australia between 1980 and 1990
