2007 FFSA STATE TALENT IDENTIFICATION CHAMPIONSHIPS

The FFSA State Junior Championships will now be known as the FFSA State Talent Identification Championships. The 2007 event will be held at The Paddocks, Para Hills Knights Soccer Club, Bridge Road, Para Hills.

For the first time, representative players from the Adelaide Hills Junior Soccer Association, Elizabeth & Districts Junior Soccer Association, Noarlunga & Districts Junior Soccer Association and North West Junior Soccer Association will be participating in the selection trials.

There have been a number of changes to the Boys selection criteria and representative teams which all clubs and associations have been advised. The Boy’s representative teams will consist of South, East, West, North, Metro North and Country.

Clubs have been asked to submit their Boys player nominations the FFSA by a specific date. Coaches are still to be finalised, and will be announced shortly by the Coaching & Development Manager, along with trial dates, times and venues. SAWSA will shortly announce their selection criteria.

The 2007 FFSA State Talent Identification Championships will feature seven age groups: Under 11, 12, 13, 14 Boys & Under 12, 14 and 16 Girls.

The annual Championships acts as a showcase for elite Junior Football in South Australia. The tournament's main purpose is as a Talent Identification Event and forms an integral part of the talent identification pathway for promising male and female soccer players within South Australia.

Age groups are selected based on their alignment to future State Team, Development Team and high performance squad requirements. Accordingly State and Development coaches will be in attendance at the Championships to begin the identification process for the 2007 State and Development teams.

In order to support the Championships' purpose, the main aims of the FFSA State Talent Identification Championships are:

1. To provide a high quality event that will act as a showcase for Junior male and female elite Football.

2. To identify potential State Team Players.

3. To identify potential players for the SASI and NTC performance programs.

4. To provide an opportunity for Coaching Staff to interact with State Federation Coaching Staff.

5. To provide Country Associations with the opportunity to monitor and evaluate their elite Junior /Youth Development programs and the players' skill in a high performance environment.

6. To provide the players with the opportunity to evaluate their own individual playing skills against other players from different regions.

7. To provide an opportunity for the identification, coaching and development of future elite referees.

2007 FRIENDSHIP GAMES

The Friendship Games features the best age group players across Australia, representing their respective States and Territories. The Friendship Games has been created to help foster a pressure free atmosphere for the players, which enables them to perform at their peak. This acts as an introduction to the higher pressure events the players will face in the upcoming years. As such results are not tabulated, nor a Final conducted.

The 2007 Friendship Games for Boys and Girls will see both tournaments being held simultaneously at Valentine Sports Park, Sydney from Monday the 2nd July to Saturday 7th July 2007.

A Telstra Football Anytime clinic will be held in north eastern Adelaide at Gleeson College at Golden Grove over six Tuesday’s in May and June.
