Secondary School Sport SA (SSSSA) Schoolboys Trials
In 2018, the 16 Years & under Boys Australian Football Championships will be held in Shepparton (Victoria) from 25th to 31st August 2018. (Players must be 16 and under as at 31st December 2018.)
At last year’s Adelaide Pacific Games, combined with the Australian Schoolboys Championships the South Australian Boys U16’s finished Silver medalists to NSW in a close competition. This was the first time in 10 years since South Australia have finished in the top three medalist positions.
The representation from schools in SA was high to enable a good competitive squad to compete in the Pacific Games.
Four of the boys went on to represent the Australian Schoolboys Squad in Japan for an International Tournament early this year.
From Sunday May 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, until Sunday 3rd June (venue TBC) officials nominated from SSSSA will be holding trials to select a squad of 16 players that shall represent SA. We wish to encourage players from clubs with football talent/skills to nominate for trials, leading to a possible place in the final 16 squad.
More information, together with on-line nomination can be attained by going to the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) website here. Within the information page is a link to click to enter your details into the database to enable you to trial.
The clubs within SA have had a major influence on the future aspirations of the schoolboys, and we look for this to continue by preparing as competitive a squad as possible every year. We look for your support by putting players names forward to showcase & represent SA at the Australian Championships this year in Victoria. Could you please inform players ASAP that are keen to trial on the dates given.
If you have any queries/issues, feel free to phone either of the two football officials
Graham Fowlie – 0402334115 (Head Coach), FFSA representative.
Tony Burns – 0413819854 (Team Manager), Schools representative.
