Due to popular demand and growth in the sport, Football Federation SA is delighted to be on its way to Kangaroo Island in August to engage with schools and the football community.
Three officials from the Game Development team will be on the Island for two days, on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 August.
Matt Mays (Regional Development), Jake Brindley (ALDI MiniRoos Officer) & Cristiano Dos Santos (Coach Education Manager) make up the trio.
Cristiano Dos Santos played in the UEFA Champions League with FC Basel, before moving to Australia and played forty-nine games for Hyundai A-League side Adelaide United. Cristiano also won Goal of the Tournament at the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup.
The team will hold a range of clinics at KICE (Kangaroo Island Community Education) campuses which will include a taste of Futsal and the outdoor game.
FFSA will also be holding an informal open forum at the Aurora Ozone Hotel, where the public are invited to voice their opinions and ideas on how we all can contribute into growing the world’s game on Kangaroo Island.
“We are extremely excited about making our first ever visit to Kangaroo Island. Regional football is a big passion of ours and we cannot wait to build some strong foundations on the island and tap into the pool of football talent there,” Matt Mays said.
“We ask the football community to come join us next Tuesday (15th) and be a part of building something special.
Alex Laver, Primary Health & PE Teacher at KICE – Kingscote Campus said:
“It is a fantastic opportunity for KICE students to have people from FFSA come to our school and pass on their skills.”
FFSA hopes to return to Kangaroo Island in the coming months for a longer visit in the spring.
